The Banking and Financial Services Internal Audit Group (BFSIAG)
is a special interest group affiliated to the Institute
of Internal Auditors - UK and
Ireland (IIA). The IIA is the primary body representing, promoting and
developing the professional practice of internal auditing in the UK and Ireland.
The BFSIAG provides seminars and conferences for internal
auditors employed within the Financial Services Sector. Attendance at these
seminars and conferences is available to all, whether or not members of the
IIA. However, the BFSIAG seeks to promote IIA membership and works closely
with the IIA in the development of internal auditing within the Financial
Services sector
In January 2005, BFSIAG merged with the American Banks and
Securities Houses Audit Group (ABSHA). Both Groups had found themselves
offering very similar seminars to the same group of internal auditors. It was
decided to retain the name of the Banking and Financial Services Internal
Audit Group while keeping the format of the ABSHA meetings. We believe that
by uniting these two groups we can be stronger in the provision of seminars
and conferences to internal auditors within the financial services sector.
The BFSIAG maintain a mailing list. Details of our seminars and
conferences are emailed to all those listed. If you wish your name to be
added to our mailing list please complete the application form contained
within the Membership
tab. There is no cost to be included on our mailing list.
The BSFG aim to hold four to six events per year. These are
normally located in the City of London
and range from lunchtime seminars to full day conferences.
The BFSIAG is
managed by a Committee
of internal auditors employed in a variety of banks.
